Library Loot

Picked up a couple of reservations today: 'Locas' by Jaime Hernandez and 'The Zenith Angle' by Bruce Sterling. So that's me all set for the weekend :-)

Sick Food

Broth with pasta, peas, and leek.
Okay, I'm not that sick. But I am enjoying a little self-pity.

Fire Escape

I wonder if it's the ivy holding it up...

'Tis the Season

This has seen a lot of use today, believe me.

Weight

Glass paperweight.
OK, not very innovative. But I'm saving my creativity for my novel (hem hem, pretentious much?). It needs it badly.

Plant

Just sitting there, a lonely splash of green in a muddy patch:
I have no idea what it is, but here's a closer look:
Methinks I'll be keeping an eye on this in the months to come.

Can't Talk; Noveling

Working on my novel 'Crash' today (if you want details see my NaNoWriMo blog). My personal goal is to write 15000 words this month. So far I've managed about 3000. I forecast six days of hair-tearing, caffeine overdoses and carpal tunnel syndrome. Sleep deprivation is fun.

Budding Springtime

More early signs of spring.

Precipitous

It's raining here today. The sort of steady drizzle that says, 'I can keep this up all day'. So here's a picture of raindrops on my window.

Vikings

I came by the Viking Ship Museum today. All the boats are, of course, currently sitting on land waiting for warmer weather. It's quite a sight in summer, with longboats moored along the pier by the Museum Island, and sometimes sailing on the fjord.

Bad Influence

I really have to stop going by Seven-Eleven. It's too tempting.
And I have to agree with Hoosiertoo now: Kel, you are a baaad influence.

PS: The dark stuff on the plate is ketchup. Blame poor light. And Kel ;-)

View of Roskilde Fjord from a bit up the road where I live.

Shopping Slog

I just worked out that yesterday's grocery shopping expedition was six-and-a-half kilometres long. On foot. And while that's longer than I'd normally walk in a day, it's not unheard of for me. So little wonder my trainers are starting to look somewhat tatty.

Time for a new pair soon, I guess.
Still, I can use the exercise.

Blooming Springtime

Spring is here, ah-suh-puh-ring is here!
Life is skittles and life is beer!Okay, maybe not quite. But the crocuses have definitely arrived. So despite a couple of days' chill I guess that's about it for winter this year.

How The Mighty pt. II

There used to be a tree here. You can just about see the stump in the foreground (in the shade). Now it's just so much firewood :-(

Strange Fruit

One of the other tenants' abandoned attempt at gardening... hoping for a ladle tree perhaps?

Roll On, Cinnamon

Sticky-sweety special at Seven-Eleven this week. Couldn't resist.
Good thing I have a gym date tomorrow.

Filthy Habit

Net result of recent anti-smoking legislation:Now, don't get me wrong - I'm a smoker myself. But even so I find this repulsive. Almost enough to consider quitting.
Almost.

Mug's Game

Cheesy marketing gimmick #81425793:

The Blackboard Mug! Comes with chalk and 2x20 bags of tea.

How can a girl resist?

Shrub Surprise

Wandering around the yard in front of our building I came across this flower in a shrub. Dunno what it is called (and don't much care, after all a rose by any other name...), but hey. A little colourful February surprise.

Fire!

Going past the local after-school facility today I saw this:I guess those thatched roofs are always a risk, even this time of year when I'd expect them to be far too soggy to catch fire. I'm just glad it didn't have time to spread. These buildings are fairly isolated, but that doesn't mean I'd happily fiddle away while they burned.

Mwaaaah!

Went to the bookshop today to check if a book they promised they'd order for me had arrived yet. It hadn't. :-(
So instead I went round to the library and picked up these two which arrived for me yesterday:Charles Stross is my current favourite author, and I suspect he'll never go out of style with me. I guess what he writes is primarily science fiction, but there are also elements of fantasy, horror, Cold War-style thrillers... really he's very difficult to pigeonhole. I love his style, and I'm completely in awe of the kind of fertile imagination it takes to come up with the stuff he does.

No Snow, But...

It sure continues mild around here. Today I saw snowdrops, though truth be told that's not too uncommon in February.

Trick Window

First time I saw this mural I did a double take: I wasn't quite sure if it was real or not. I think it's one of those little unexpected details from daily life that keep things interesting.

Flat Food Extravaganza

Iiiiit's...
PANCAKE TUESDAY!
And yes, I know that to you people on the other side of the Pond it's Super Tuesday, but since I'm not a US citizen and can't affect the Presidential elections at any level - I'm just one of the little people who has to live with the outcome :-) -I'll just munch down my pancakes and leave the politics to you.

How The Mighty Hath Fallen

A tree in a neighbour's front garden just had its branches cut off.

I assume it had to be done. Still makes me sad, though.

Crazy Cat Capers

A cat's work is never done. It may be only a foam rubber ball...

... but you still have to keep an eye on the buggers.

Whoops! Where'd it go?

Right, I've had it for today. I shall retire to the closet:

Hold all my calls, and do not interrupt unless you come bearing shrimp.

Completion Day Thirty-Three

My first picture when I began this blog was of a jigsaw puzzle we started on New Year's Day. Now, thirty-two days later, it's finally complete...
So now I guess it will be broken up and stashed in the cupboard for the next couple of years :-)

The Mystery Revealed

Today Lisette's cat Mulle just had to find out what's behind the kitchen drawers!
