Shrub Surprise

Wandering around the yard in front of our building I came across this flower in a shrub. Dunno what it is called (and don't much care, after all a rose by any other name...), but hey. A little colourful February surprise.

I use this for eroision control on our bank. It is called "Periwinkle" I guess for the color. Or it is also know as vinca vine or myrtle. It is one of my favorite plants. In the spring the whole bank is covered with the periwinkle flowers.

Thanks for updating my botanical knowledge. I always say you're never too old to learn.

Periwinkle is also native to the northeastern US... so this vine really creeped!!1
